    Things To Grab

    • Small shallow bowl
    • Deep-fat fryer or 6-qt. Dutch oven
    • Whisk
    • Large saucepan
    • Silicone spatula
    • Medium bowl
    • Electric hand mixer
    • Large pastry bag
    • Medium 6-prong star-shape piping tip
    • Metal slotted spoon
    • Paper towels

    Directions

    1. Place cinnamon-sugar blend in a small shallow bowl; set aside. Heat oil to 375 degrees in a deep-fat fryer or a 6-qt. Dutch oven suitable for deep-fat frying. Follow manufacturer’s instructions for quantity of oil in deep-fat fryer. For Dutch oven, use at least 2 in. of oil.

    2. Meanwhile, whisk together milk, butter, vanilla and salt in a large saucepan. Slowly bring to a boil over medium-high heat, whisking occasionally.

    3. Remove saucepan from heat. Stir in flour with silicone spatula until mixture is smooth. Cool for 10 to 15 minutes. Transfer mixture to a medium bowl. Beat in egg with an electric hand mixer for 2 to 3 minutes or until mixture is smooth.

    4. Transfer batter to a large pastry bag fitted with a medium 6-prong star-shape piping tip. Pipe 1½-in.-long pieces of dough, 5 to 10 at a time, into hot oil. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden and crisp, turning occasionally. Remove with a metal slotted spoon; drain on paper towels. While still warm, toss in cinnamon-sugar blend. Drizzle with chocolate sauce.
